POSITION TITLE: DAYCARE ASSISTANT TEACHER
BUILDING LOCATION: Perry Elementary School

PAYMENT RATE: $12.55-$14.95 hourly rate based on experience & education
WORKING HOURS: 40 hrs; Full time

EVALUATED BY: Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Josh Woodward/or Daycare Program Director
PURPOSE: The Daycare Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting in childcare in the USD #343 daycare program. The Assistant Teacher will work as directed by the Lead Teacher and/or the Daycare Program Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and is at least three years older than the oldest youth in the group.
- Valid driver’s license (prefer Kansas).
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Health and Tuberculin Certificates on file (after employee offer is made).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide a safe and welcoming environment for children.
- Clean classroom and maintain an acceptable and safe environment. This includes daily custodial duties of the classroom space.
- Displays good judgment in decision-making situations.
- Responds positively to constructive suggestions for improvement.
- Utilizes time constructively and effectively.
- The ability to handle and balance multiple demands at the same time.
- Adheres to all district health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
- Serves as a role model for children in behavior, appearance and grooming
- Display dependability and punctuality in attendance.
- The ability to communicate clearly.
- Must have the skills and abilities to carry out the program of activities.
- The ability to foster positive, healthy relationship with children or youth.
- The ability to provide supervision and guidance to a group of children or youth under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
- Must complete required professional development training as required.
- Maintains confidentiality of classroom, student and family information.
- Interacts in a professional manner with other staff members.
- Serves as a role model for children in behavior, appearance and grooming.
- Display dependability and punctuality in attendance.
- Ability to react to changes and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner, and handle other duties as assigned by the Daycare Program Director, building principal and/or Superintendent of Schools.
